Introduction Shizuma is the son of a samurai, who visits his father's friend's dojo in Kyouto, and gets caught up in the politics and bloodshed of Bakumatsu era Kyouto over who will be the next emperor.  From a peaceful country town, Shizuma has to adapt to the danger and grow up fast, coming to terms with people dying around him.  Complicating his feelings is Iori, a teacher at the dojo, whom he grows to care for.
